Ms. Aidai Kurmanova is the Head of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Sub-regional office for Central Asia in Almaty.
Ms. Kurmanova brings 21 years of sustainable development country experience, including her five-year assignment as the First Deputy Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic. Her main areas of expertise include design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of sustainable economic development policy.
Ms. Kurmanova has developed strategic documents on green economy, e-governance, and small and medium enterprise development. She has led the SDG nationalization process for the Kyrgyz Republic. She brings first-hand experience in intergovernmental policies and procedures, as well as developing and implementing a cohesive economic growth strategy.
Aidai has significant practical work experience with the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic in improving the environment for business and has promoted draft laws on economic growth.
Ms. Kurmanova holds a master’s degree in Development Economics from the International University of Japan and MA in Public Governance from the Academy of Management under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
